The business was established in 1966 in Zimbabwe, and was then known as Modern Auto Electrical, where work undertaken was general auto electrical repairs.

The business was moved to South Africa in 1985 and the repairing of flameproof alternators was introduced.

In 1989 the business began to manufacture its own electrical equipment for use on all diesel and non-diesel machinery and vehicles in both flameproof and non-flameproof environments.

Currently 90% of all work is directed to the coal mine industry.
The business was legally registered in South Africa in 1995 as M.A.E Manufactures CC, with 3 members -
Messrs. Lucio Lo Giudice, Mario Lo Giudice and Giovanni Lo Giudice.
